Catalogued Dreams

The mid-winter arrival
Of the spring seed catalogs
Sparks a gardener’s imagination.
Leafing through the pages
Inspires grand produce plans,
The fiery orange flesh
Of a pale green Charentais melon,
A rainbow of heirloom tomatoes
From Great White to Black Krim,
An exotic mix of gourmet salad greens:
Cressida. Tatsoi. Arugula. Mache.
I drift away in blissful
Mizuna daydreams
And pray for warmer weather.

My tomato plant is still producing tomatoes, but for us cold weather is in the 60's and the people who garden out here are probably out there getting the ground ready to start planting in March and some things even earlier. We can also have winter gardens if one is so inclined but I only know a few who do that. My strawberries also grow all year round as long as I feed the plants. I guess we are very lucky out here.

That is a beautiful picture of someone's bounty and looks like they came from a great garden.

Thanks for playing with us in this weeks Theme Thursday.

God bless.
