Love in Decay

In Memory Of by DefenestratedDuck @ deviantART

the fetid stench
burns through my senses,
my moldering heart
abandoned long ago
in an endless
emotional
wasteland.
a silent dirge
reverberates
through me,
leaving me
yearning
for a healing hand
to reach into my desolation
and resurrect my soul.

~~~~  This poem was written for a prompt over at Poetry Jam, asking us to write a poem that evokes a specific mood.
Mary, again I appreciate the gut level openness in your writing. I think all of us need that healing hand at one time or another. It can make the difference between night and day!
fetid stench...mouldering heart....great use of language to set the mood of this piece....painful...but perhaps a bit of hope in the end...
