To the Sea

I must go down to the sea again
And answer the siren’s call.
Emotions crashing
Onto my rocky shores,
I long to dive in,
Swim past the breakers
Into the open ocean,
Lose myself
In his watery blue depths.

I love the sea as well Mary. Went sailing for the first time in 06 off the coast of Maine. Had a great time. Quite envigorating. :)

That first line really grabs me, as if you have no choice. And we really don't know where the poem is heading; the sea can represent so many things.

ME TOO! I love the ocean and have not been in sea water for nearly a year. The time is necessary and nigh!

Ah yes, one can so easily and wonderfully lose oneself in the sea. Head on down....

John Masefield's "Sea Fever" reverberates through this poem, starting from the homage in the opening line, to the compulsion that pulls to the soul to the cradle where life began.

I say take the invite, dive and swim...I resonated with your words as I did the same post about the sea last week ~
