Between darkness and light,
The darkness a magnet
Drawing me closer,
Wrapping me in metallic cool.
I long for the light, to dive in
And let my soul be cleansed,
Ready for rebirth, for redemption.
It’s a solitary journey,
One I know we each
Must negotiate in our own way.
I struggle to keep my balance,
Knowing that if I can persevere,
The best is yet to be.

i have to hold onto that hope that the best is always yet to be you know...smiles...i will say that over the years i have grown to appreciate both the dark and the light...as they each bring a different perspective to life...
Yes, the journey is solitary...for everyone...and we CAN always hope that the best is around the corner, at least if not the best....close enough!
I agree with Brian, we need both dark and light for balance. If we didn't know sorrow, or pain, how could be know happiness and light.
Lovely walk with your thoughts.
"Metallic cool"! I love that. It feels good, and appropriate to the photograph even if there's just nature on it. I love to be surprised!
Amen, to the best is yet to come.
I really like this. The photo goes well with your poem. Life is indeed a balancing act. I don't believe we recognize light unless we experience some darkness.
I long to dive in too...but there is safety in shadows! Wonderful play with the photo
Very meaningful words...yes, the best is yet to come. I have lots of hope ~
we struggle to keep balance between ourselves and our shadow
suffocated reflction
It's a leap of faith... and you can persevere!
This has a tension of choice that I like very much. I can imagine that internal struggle going on, much as i struggle with myself to attain light and ascertain darkness to go the right way.
Indeed it is a solitary journey. Nicely written.
Beautiful take on the picture! I like the hope at the end.
"Knowing that if I can persevere,
The best is yet to be"
Certainly Mary! Seek and you'll find!
Good advice and great verse!

So well conceived and executed, Mary.
You put it all in 14 lines.
Fantastic imagery sculpted here! The reflective nature of this really spoke to me- it's often on these walks alone that we fight off and wrestle with our daily demons. But this was positive in the and gave hope. Very nicely penned!
A brilliant response to the photo. Expressed with conviction and a truly authentic voice. Thank you.
..and sometimes it's such a small path..this trail between darkness and light..love how you lead us along the road...and yep...the best is yet to come...that's the way to look at life..
Another stunning piece Mary. Thanks so much for taking part in Carry On Tuesday. It's really appreciated.
Great take, excellent choice of image, Mary. I love that one. Love your sense of optimism, even amidst the shadows! Late for Linky at dverse, but here's mine! Amy

I struggle to keep my balance,
Knowing that if I can persevere,
The best is yet to be.
SO TRUE, MARY!!
This is so true! We all have that struggle between darkness and light going on in our souls. Whichever side we feed will win out.
