Wrapped in Regrets

I wrap myself
In a blanket of regrets,
The edges frayed,
Worn nearly threadbare,
Pulled tight around me
But offering little protection
From harsh wintry winds.

Now the warming rays
Of spring approach;
Perhaps the time has come
To shed these regrets,
Allow a bit of new growth in my life.

Spring IS the season for new beginnings, for leaving some of the 'old' patterns and feelings behind. Well expressed.

Regrets that have lingered long enough to cause fraying ... letting go will help, not easy I know.

Excellent example of tangible description of a feeling. The photo goes well with it too! And yes it is time to shed regret when spring comes.

Beautifully written. The offer nothing yet we hold onto a score of regrets throughout our life. I like the way you have ended your poem on a hopeful note.

often we have to do just that...be willing to let those regrets go to allow for the new life to start growing once more...it will def bring you down and smother...

You've got to shed the old before starting anew...

Sounds like regret has been held on to for a long, long time! I like how you carried the theme throughout the poem and allowed the new growth to sprout.

The concept behind this shines through. An enjoyable read.

spring is a time to shed a lot of things, i guess regrets is just as good as anything else. i intend to shed a lot of pounds.
