Current Events (In Limerick Form)

A governor from Illinois,
Caught being a very bad boy,
Sent off on “vacation”
For incarceration,
And his stylist is now unemployed.

The Prez turned down the pipeline for oil,
And the voter’s blood started to boil.
As their gas prices rise,
There’s a fire in their eyes
As to fill their tanks, harder they toil.

Congress faces a huge budget gap
With spending they can’t seem to cap.
If they can’t plug that hole,
When we stand at the poll,
Let’s all give them an electoral slap.

Thanks for joining in with your political limericks. I too really enjoy writing current events limericks. I hope you'll give my weekly Limerick-Off challenges a try.

Very cool and clever. Just sent a copy of them off to my lawyer. He will get a kick out of them! Thanks so much for linking with us today! Gay

Of these limericks leaning political
I cannot, by no means, be more critical
Than to say - Yes! Right on!
Give them something to bite on!
And beware, all of ye hypocritical.

Hear hear. This form is so adaptable. From politics to bawdiness. I enjoyed all three of your limericks, though my favorits has to be giving Congress the what for!

Oh that beautiful hair
The inmates can’t help but stare
He made a mistake
His story’s a fake
Now what he needs is a prayer

Love the spin on these... so true and silly political games going on these days.

Limerick as political commentary. Love it.

The guy with the hair will go grey
While at the pumps we continue to pay
Congress will endlessly fight
Instead of doing what's right
Each day just brings more of the same.

You've put in a clever twist here. Current events, political satire are very refreshing. Great!
