Up to Bat

Ball Field by Peter Griffin

No designated hitter
when life pitches
a curve,
a slider,
the occasional screwball;
the best tactic
is to knock the dust
from your shoes,
adjust your grip,
and swing for the fences.

~~~ This poem was written in response to a prompt from Imaginary Garden with Real Toads about fences.
