If I could,
I would bottle
Snippets of wisdom
And deposit them
In the sands
Of your future,
In hopes that
My advice
Can offer
Comforting help
Long after
My own beaches
Are deserted.

Mmm. This is lovely - perhaps I will put a letter in a bottle for each of my children. Once I am long gone they might say "Hey, mom really WAS wise!" :)
Nice! Sometimes I think someone's wisdom is much more appreciated when they are gone than when they were alive. Sad, but true.
Beautiful! What a lovely offering~
I do think if we are lucky we can leave those we love with our profound wisdom. Let's hope...
So wonderfully expressed! :D
And perhaps, that's why people keep writing things down.
Oh, how poignant, Mary...your last line...love this poem!!!
Oh me this is soooo good.....no words to say how I loved this....
These are very beautiful words - each one carries a full measure of weight. i especially loved the way you concluded the poem.
I have noticed how supportive you have been of Real Toads challenges over the last few months, Mary, and wonder if you would consider membership. If you are interested please contact me.
A great way to say I told you so too....lol! Just kidding! That is a splendid idea, my kids might listen to me better once I'm gone, I think it just happens that way. Great writing.
A beautiful message in a bottle to wish to leave.
It would be nice to do that. Perhaps they'd listen better that way.
I imagine that's what we are doing here on our blogs, hoping to leave something of who we are for others to find......I love your closing lines especially, Mary!
Love this! I agree with Sherry..our blogs are our "message in a bottle."
